Lamborgini Gallardo LP560-4

Here’s another addition of Lamborghini cars to my Autos category. It’s the Gallardo (gayyardo) LP560-4 for the year 2009.

Gallardo not as much of an eye catcher in terms of looks compared to his bigger brother the Murcielago. I always checkout the design first before I look at everything else.

And this time around Lamborghini produces something, to me to be a “head-turner” in Gallardo series. In Italian Gallardo translates into ‘striking’, this revised styling has that translation written all over it.

The Gallardo series now more in to line with the recent Reventon concept. You can see the family resemblance that LP560-4 having a little of his big brother’s signature super-handsome and sexy looks.

Noticed the name ended with a serial number. Why?

Let’s do the puzzle:- ‘LP’ is ‘Longitudinale Posteriore’ refers to the engine positioning. ‘560’ is the engines power output. ‘4’ is the four-wheel-drive. Oh?. Ok. 😐

So what new with the Gallardo LP560-4…

Exterior

Presented at the Geneva auto show in elegant white skin. It’s not a complete style makeover but rather a refreshed version of Gallardo. This little bull only received a minor beauty treatment on the outside but can easily grab anyone’s attention.

If you look closely, the front end styling has been revised to give Reventon’s little brother the family look alike feels to it. The nose is more aggressive, with slightly larger vertical intakes ahead of the front wheels.

The front spoiler just out more, as well as a third intake or inlet that possibly directs air underneath the car.

Positioned front, center and low between the two larger intakes providing additional cooling, the new inlet adds some angles to the front end that are very similar to the Reventon’s angular design.

The headlights have been revised. Headlights combine Bi-Xenon lamps and LED running lights. Integrated beneath the Bi-Xenon lamps, a characteristic ‘daytime’ running light and 15 diodes LED positioned in ‘Y’ shape structure. The same features also implemented in the rear taillights.

The largest body alteration is the rear end, which has been totally redone and re-sculpted. The taillights are wider and shorter, a black grille stretches the entire expanse of the rear, and a pair of dual exhausts now exit within a black housing above the rear diffuser. The stop and brake lights display the 3 times ‘Y’ form.

A ‘see-through’ glass engine hatch covers has been added. All the rear styling changes have been inspired by the Miura Concept, the Murcielago LP640 and the Reventon.

The wheels are new as well. Sweet! B-) Behind those 4 wheels, permanent four-wheel drive and an upgraded suspension to provide better handling, traction and high-speed stability. An optional Brembo’s ceramic disc braking system with 8 piston calipers on 14.4 inches rotor up front and 4 piston calipers on 14 inches rotor at the rear.

The Gallardo continues to feature an aluminum body on an aluminum space-frame chassis. No changes there.

What’s under the hood?

The engine is highly efficient and more powerful now compared to it’s predecessor, a new direct fuel injection (Iniezione Diretta Stratificata) 5.2-liter V10 that makes 552 horsepower. That’s an addition of nearly 40 hp.

This Gallardo is on weight-loss diet and shaved off approximate 20 kilogram, improves the power to weight ratio to 2.5 kilograms per PS (hp) and thus enhances performance.

The LP560-4 accelerates from 0-100 km/h | 0-60 mp/h in 3.7 seconds, its speed at 11.8 seconds is 200 km/h and its top speed lies at 325 km/h | 202 mp/h. 18 percent of fuel consumption and CO² emissions have been reduced.

The Interior

The interior remains virtually unchanged, except for a few new switches on the center console and cup holders. 😉

Standard equipment includes air-conditioning and a multimedia system. Customers can select from leather or Alcantara upholstery and trim, with carbon-fiber accents also available.
